3 things every millennial needs to know about buying takeout food.

Well, it’s finally time to move out on your own, and I’m talking theĀ big day, no roommates, no brothers or sisters, and no parents.

So now you got a few weeks in of this, and all that take out is getting expensive.

Consider theĀ  numbers. Even if you ate at McDonald’s every night, assume you’re spending $5 an evening for “food.” Multiply that by 365. That’s $1825 and you probably gained 40 pounds. That’s just considering ONE meal, you need three. So factor that out by 3 (assuming you’re buying coffee at the gas station too.) Now you’re spending close to $6000 a year, or $500 a month. That’s more than your mother EVER spent!

So what to do?

Well, you got to do what your mom did. Cook!

“But I don’t know how to cook?”

I didn’t either, and honestly, if any of my house guests tell you, I still don’t. But there are things you can do to turn your potato and onions into something better.

And it doesn’t require you be Gordon Ramsey.

Here are 3 things you must do when moving out.
